RFC partnered with Jordan Tourism Board, Royal Jordanian, Movenpick Hotel Dead Sea, and Hertz for this FAM tour.
From September 18 to 25, 2022, the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) hosted a delegation of nine high-profile representatives from prominent international studios and production companies for its familiarisation (FAM) tour.
The FAM tour aims to introduce the visiting delegates to Jordan’s amazingly diverse and unique camera-ready locations, as well as to the country’s solid infrastructure and skilled crew base.
The participating delegation included members of the following studios and companies: Marvel Studios, Warner Bros., Gaumont, Media Rights Capital (MRC), Focus Features, PictureStart, Hoorae, Appain Way, and Mind’s Eye Entertainment. They learnt about the comprehensive production services, facilitations, financial incentives and tax exemption programmes offered by the RFC when shooting in the country.
Over six days, the guests had the chance to traverse different parts of the Kingdom starting from Amman. They also toured Salt, Jerash, Um Qais, Madaba and the Dead Sea, which all served as filming locations for numerous local, Arab and international productions.
The executives and producers explored the legendary Nabatean city of Petra and the desert of Wadi Rum – where they walked in the footsteps of famous directors who captured these iconic landscapes on screen.
The delegation met Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, the RFC’s Chairman, Princess Rym Ali, Executive Commissioner at the RFC and other members of the Board of Commissioners. They had encounters with the Minister of Investment, Khairy Amr, and the Minister of Culture, Haifa Najjar.
Speaking about the tour, Mohannad Al Bakri, RFC’s Managing Director, said: “We are glad to have resumed the RFC’s annual FAM tour, after a two-year suspension due to the pandemic. FAM tours are an effective tool to identify and promote the Kingdom’s great potential, and we believe in their positive impact and outcome. Disney came back to shoot its famous live-action film Aladdin in Jordan in 2017; so did Dune 2 which returned to shoot in the desert; Marvel Studios recently released the TV series Moon Night which was shot in Wadi Rum in 2021.”
Kevin DeWalt, Producer and CEO of Minds Eye Entertainment, commented on his visit and said: “It was wonderful seeing the incredible landscapes and potential locations in Jordan. The possibilities to film in Jordan are endless. No other film commission in the world provides the level of services to producers and filmmakers better than The Royal Film Commission of Jordan. I can’t wait to come back to Jordan to shoot one of my next feature films.”
