Arabsat recently signed a contract with Airbus Defense and Space to manufacture Badr-8 , the first of its 7th generation satellites, expected to launch at the beginning of 2023.
The Arab Satellite Communications Organization (Arabsat) is participating as an exhibitor at CABSAT. Virtual from November 9-10, 2020.
Arabsat has had several successes this year in terms of adding new channels to its satellite. Some of the highlights include the long-term agreement between BBC News Arabic television and Arabsat. According to the deal, the BBC’s first Arabic news channel launched exclusively in high resolution on Arabsat BADR-4, which covers the entire MENA region and most of Western Europe.
In September, Arabsat added Tele Maroc, a major Moroccan satellite TV channel cast from the Spanish capital, Madrid, showing fine entertainment, talk shows, documentaries, and sports, exclusively on BADR-5.
Recently, Arabsat also signed a contract with Airbus Defense and Space to manufacture Badr-8 satellite, which is the first of its 7th generation satellites, expected to be launched at the beginning of 2023.
BADR- will be based on the-state-of-the-art Airbus Eurostar Neo electric orbit raising platform giving access to a wide range of launchers, covering Europe, Middle East, Africa and central Asia. It will also include the innovative Airbus developed TELEO optical communications payload demonstrator. This payload will enable very high capacity analogue optical feeder link communications, as part of the development by Airbus of a new generation of optical communications technology in space to be integrated in its future commercial products, which is highly robust against jamming.
