The new satellite is scheduled to reach the orbit in November, one month after its launch.
Exolaunch, a rideshare launch provider, has announced that it will launch a cluster of 15 smallsats including the UAE’s Meznsat satellite aboard a Soyuz rocket tomorrow (September 28). This mission marks Exolaunch’s seventh with a Soyuz rocket.
According to the UAE Space Agency, MeznSat an educational satellite which has been developed by Emirati students from Khalifa University and the American University in Ras Al Khaimah.
The new satellite is scheduled to reach the orbit in November. The mission of the satellite is to collect data on greenhouse gas emissions over the UAE.
Once in position, the team of students will also monitor and analyse data sent to the mainland station at the YahSat lab in Khalifa University and the sub-land station at American University.
During the project’s announcement, Dr Eng. Mohammed Nasser Al Ahbabi, Director-General of the UAE Space Agency, stressed that MeznSat will play a key role in analysing the atmosphere and providing information and photos that will help understand many issues facing the planet.
