In order to bridge the digital divide, SkyEdge II-c will connect rural villages to government networks.
Gilat Satellite Networks has signed an agreement to provide a SkyEdge II-c hub and hundreds of VSATs to a government in Central Asia.
The Gilat equipment will be used to connect rural villages to the government network, serve as a backup communication channel for disaster preparedness, and provide remote services to citizens.
Using the services enabled by Gilats proven SATCOM technology, citizens all over the country, even in the farthest most remote regions, will be able to interact with all governmental bodies, including the police, the land registry, licensing authorities, notarisation, and more.
Commenting on the agreement, Michal Aharonov, Chief Commercial Officer at Gilat, said: “Gilat technology is being leveraged to connect people and provide for the efficient provisioning of services, regardless of geographic distances. Once again, Gilats SkyEdge II-c platform is bridging the digital divide and helping to improve the lives of people throughout the world.”
