Measat will provide regional connectivity to broadcasters and operators via its Measat-3b and Measat-3d satellites.
Measat Global Berhad, Malaysias premier satellite solutions provider, has entered a strategic partnership with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) to enhance its business operations in India. The collaboration agreement was signed during the Bengaluru Space Expo 2024.
NSIL, a state-owned entity under Indias Department of Space, manages communication satellites and provides services to both government and private sectors. The partnership with Measat will enable the Malaysian company to offer satellite capacity to broadcasters, DTH operators and other services in India. Domestic services will utilise the Measat-3b Ku-Band, while regional connectivity will be supported through the Measat-3d Global C-Band, ensuring comprehensive coverage across the region.
Ganendra Selvaraj, Chief Commercial Officer, Measat, said: “Measat is pleased to strengthen the business relationship and expand the collaboration with NSIL, who has been our partner for more than 5 years. It is exciting to see the Indian Governments commitment to grow the space industry and we are keen to leverage our capabilities and reliable satellites to support the needs of current and future clients in the country. The success of our CONNECTme satellite broadband service in helping to close the connectivity gap in rural Malaysia could be replicated in India through this partnership. We are also keen to tap on NSILs launch service capability and other services to support Measats initiatives in the region.”
A. Arunachalam, Director, NewSpace India Limited, added: “We are delighted with this expansion of our relationship with Measat. NSIL is committed to meet the demands of users in Indian Market and hence it would continue the successful business activities with international satellite solutions providers like Measat in line with Indias national goals. Together, we will also drive new capacity offerings for existing customers and new business in India, which in turn, helps them achieve their own growth targets.”
