Quadsat has announced that it is working with major satellite operators to provide a simplified method of testing for the antenna registration process. This includes a recent partnership with GovSat, which will allow antennas across the GovSat network to be tested using the Quadsat system. The Quadsat system utilises a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) equipped with a customised RF payload to perform precise and flexible antenna validation. It is capable of testing a variety of user terminals, including fixed antennas, comms-on-the-move (COTM) systems and phased array antennas, as well as earth stations across the network. The system features bespoke software that provides standardised reporting for a wide range of measurements. This allows for on-site testing within the operational environment of the antennas, ensuring thorough and accurate assessments.
Satellite operators frequently face requests from manufacturers to use their satellite capacity for antenna verification and testing. However, many operators lack the necessary satellite capacity, manpower or calibrated tools, and using live satellite capacity could introduce interference. By partnering with operators like GovSat, Quadsat aims to simplify the antenna registration process, minimise the risk of interference, and provide valuable antenna measurement and verification services.
