Mordi's goal is to enhance collaborations, educational initiatives, and training programmes in the region.
Thales has appointed Abdelhafid Mordi to the position of CEO in the UAE and CEO of Thales Emarat Technologies. Additionally, Mordi will continue his role as the Country Director of Thales in Iraq.
With a professional journey spanning over two decades and diverse leadership positions, Abdelhafid Mordi is set to steer Thales towards new horizons in the UAE. With a focus on expanding Thales’s technological footprint in the region, particularly through the growth of Thales Emarat Technologies (TET), Mordi aims to strengthen partnerships, educational initiatives, and training programmes.
Mordi, a graduate in International Business from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, commenced his career as a field marketing manager with Schlumberger. He joined Gemalto, now part of Thales, in 2003 as a sales manager, later becoming the Digital Identity and Security sales director for the Middle East and North Africa in 2006. In 2014, he was appointed the Country Director of Thales in Iraq and Jordan, with additional responsibilities for Oman in 2020.
Speaking about the new role, Abdelhafid Mordi said: “I am honored to take on the role of CEO of Thales in the UAE. The country is a global partner and an influential economic hub, as it looks to further strengthen its stance through the four pillars of society, economy, diplomacy and ecosystem mentioned in We the UAE 2031. Thales will continue to support the UAE through cutting edge technologies, educational and training programmes, as well as other industrial developments. I look forward to working closely with our partners in the country. Together, we will build a future we can all trust.”
Thales, with a presence of over 45 years in the UAE, has been a provider of advanced solutions in Defense and Security, Digital Identity and Security, Aerospace, Space, and Transportation industries. In 2019, the establishment of Thales Emarat Technologies (TET), a fully-owned entity under the Tawazun Economic Programme, further demonstrated the group’s commitment to localising expertise and nurturing Emirati talent.
