As part of the project funding, ESA and CNES are supporting this development.
Thales Alenia Space has selected Enensys DVB-S2X multi-wide beam technology for its new High Ka Capacity Ground System.
Eutelsat Konnect VHTS, a high-capacity satellite system intended to support the development of high-speed fixed satellite and in-flight connectivity sectors in Europe, is based on the latest generation of Thales Alenia Space satellites. This new generation of satellites, carrying on board the digital processor ever put into orbit, is capable of combining flexibility in capacity allocation with optimal use of the spectrum and progressive deployment of the network on the ground.
At the present time, Thales Alenia Space is developing the ground segment solution with a total capacity of 500 Gbps in Ka-band. Thales has selected the Enensys Tyger satellite modulator platform that will be enhanced to support wide-band and multi-beam DVB-S2/S2X capabilities, offering further flexibility and simplified integration while reducing space and cost.
This development is supported by the ESA (European Space Agency) and CNES (French Space Agency) who are participating in funding of the project.
Commenting on the deal, Eric LE TOLLEC, Space Gate Product Line Development Manager at Thales Alenia Space, said: Enensys solution and expertise will contribute to secure the development of our Space Gate user segment product which provides a satellite network access solution.
Christophe TROLET, Modem Products Director at Enensys, added: We are very excited and proud to be a partner of Thales Alenia Space for this new satellite IP connectivity challenge and future systems. This also recognises our expertise and innovation in developing powerful solutions.
