Starlink Muscat received a Class 1 license, authorising it to offer fixed public telecommunications services in the Sultanate.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has officially approved Starlink Muscat to begin offering broadband internet services across Oman using satellite communications technology.
Starlink, a low-orbit satellite network, is designed to provide high-speed broadband, particularly in areas with limited or no internet access. The service will be available throughout the Sultanate, including remote and difficult-to-reach locations, with speeds reaching up to 100 Mbps. Additionally, it will introduce advanced solutions for connecting telecommunications towers in challenging terrains, contributing to Omans digital transformation efforts.
The arrival of Starlink in Oman is expected to drive competition among licensed telecom providers, enhance internet service quality and speed, and benefit key economic sectors such as oil and gas, mining, tourism and agriculture. Both individuals and businesses will have access to Starlinks innovative services.
Starlink Muscat was awarded a Class 1 licence under Royal Decree No. 42/2023, issued on June 20, 2023, granting authorisation to establish and operate a satellite communications system to provide fixed public telecommunications services within the Sultanate.
