Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (Du) has named Malek Sultan Rashed Al Malek as its new Chairman.
He takes over from Mohamed Bin Hadi Al Hussaini, who stepped down from the du Board of Directors with immediate effect.
Al Malek will be an instant fit as Chairman, given that he also holds the position of CEO at Tecom Group as well as being a Director-general at Dubai Development Authority, the company said.
The board also approved the appointment of Abdulla Khalifa Abdulla Humaid Belhoul as director of the company.
The company reported a profit of 496.9m dirhams ($135.27m) for the six-month period ended June 30, 2021, down from 570.4m in the same period last year.
However, it maintained that it had a solid performance during the Q2 compared to the same period last year. Its profit went up 11.4% to 240m dirhams during the same period, on the back of high revenues.
