The agreement also includes plans to create a digital media platform that will produce videos, articles, podcasts, and documentaries for online platforms.
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Farhan, has entered into an agreement with Waleed bin Ibrahim Al Ibrahim, Chairman of MBC Group, to launch and operate a television channel dedicated to showcasing Saudi culture by airing various programmes around the clock.
This partnership, reported by the Saudi Press Agency, aims to bolster the Kingdom’s stature as a key regional cultural hub and align with the cultural objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The forthcoming channel, set to commence streaming in September, will be accessible via the MBC satellite package and Shahid.net. Its primary goal is to amplify Saudi cultural content on a global scale, contributing to the Kingdom’s presence within the worldwide innovation landscape. The channel’s diverse lineup will encompass literature, poetry, theatre, cinema, fashion, and culinary arts, engaging both local and international viewers.
In addition to the channel, the agreement outlines the launch of a digital media platform specialised in generating video content for online platforms. This platform will also publish articles, podcasts, and documentaries, thereby expanding opportunities for local content creators and fostering connections with experts in the field.
This initiative aligns with the cultural resurgence driven by Saudi Vision 2030, coinciding with the aspirations of a new generation eager to embrace rapid technological advancements. Through this partnership, Saudi Arabia aims to celebrate its rich cultural heritage and propel its creative community onto the global stage.
