It is a part of an effort to strengthen the Kingdom’s position in audiovisual archiving.
The Saudi Film Commission has become a member of the International Federation of Television Archives (FIAT/IFTA), a global network of more than 200 organisations committed to preserving and promoting audiovisual heritage.
This membership aligns with the commission’s mission to enhance Saudi Arabia’s film archiving sector while showcasing Saudi and Arab cinematic history on a global stage. It will also facilitate knowledge exchange, enabling local talent to benefit from international expertise and fostering collaboration in archival collection-sharing with other FIAT/IFTA members.
The move is part of the Commission’s broader strategy to position Saudi Arabia as a major global centre for the film industry, boost the national economy, and elevate the country’s cinematic sector to international standards.
