The commission aims to highlight a range of perspectives and ideas by facilitating communication between filmmakers and industry experts.
The Saudi Film Commission has announced its participation in the 10th edition of the Saudi Film Festival, held at the King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture (Ithra) in Dhahran from May 2 to 9.
This annual local film extravaganza, organised in collaboration with the Saudi Cinema Association and with the invaluable support of the Film Commission, stands as a testament to the kingdom’s vibrant cinematic landscape.
The commission’s involvement in the festival is geared towards propelling the film sector forward and nurturing budding talents. With a focus on fostering dialogue between filmmakers and industry experts, the commission aims to showcase a diverse array of knowledge and ideas.
At the heart of the commission’s festival participation is its pavilion, serving as a hub for presenting its vision, goals, strategies, projects, and initiatives aimed at advancing the sector. Moreover, the pavilion provides a networking platform for Saudi companies and talents to connect and collaborate.
In addition to extending financial support to the festival, the commission is screening a selection of films it has backed, spanning various genres. Among these are animated films such as The Menace from Above and Saleeq, alongside feature films like Within Sand, Hajjan, and Salem’s Disappearance, all of which have benefited from the commission’s incentives programme.
The festival features competitive events aimed at elevating the quality of screenplays and films showcased. In a bid to diversify the cinematic offerings, the festival has expanded its repertoire to include Arab and international productions. Furthermore, it offers a programme of workshops, seminars, and networking events designed to enrich the experience for filmmakers and industry professionals alike.
