The Commission’s participation in the festival includes organising a roundtable event titled 'Challenges Facing Modern and Emerging Archives in Particular.'
Saudi Film Commission will be participating in the 81st Venice International Film Festival, set to take place from August 28 to September 7, 2024, in Venice, Italy.
As one of the world’s oldest film festivals, the Venice Film Festival is a cornerstone of the Venice Biennale and is recognised by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).
The Film Commission’s participation aims to bolster Saudi Arabia’s reputation as a global cinema hub, strengthen international relations and highlight the Kingdom’s cultural and cinematic heritage.
Additionally, the Commission seeks to enhance the visibility of Saudi cinema on the international stage, emphasise significant archival efforts and highlight the importance of the National Film Archive.
During the festival, the Commission will host a roundtable event titled “Challenges Facing Modern and Emerging Archives,” where its archive management team, along with Saudi film industry partners, will engage in discussions on these issues, promoting cultural dialogue and knowledge exchange.
This participation aligns with the Commission’s broader strategy to engage in international film festivals, contribute to the growth of the Saudi film industry, empower Saudi talent, and foster the exchange of experiences and knowledge, further solidifying Saudi Arabia’s presence on the global film map.
