Screen Institute Beirut (SIB) is offering its support for the seventh edition of Ayam Beirut Al Cinemaiya. This initiative is a step forward in the right direction as SIB continues to support documentary film production in the Arab World, and promote new talent.
Through its film fund created in 2009, SIB has had a major impact in the changes that the Arab documentary landscape witnessed during the past three years. A number of these films will be screened in this years Ayam Beirut Al Cinemaiya which has established itself as one of the most important platforms for Arab films in the region.
Screen Institute Beiruts support to Ayam Beirut Al Cinemaiya will be reflected in the Festivals main and parallel activities. In addition to screening documentaries supported by SIB in the Festivals official program, SIB is sponsoring the organization of a panel entitled Family Portraits in Arab Documentary tackling the emergence of this genre of documentaries in the Arab World over the past few years, among which many were supported by SIBs film fund.
SIB will also offer a prize of USD 5000 to support the theatrical distribution of an Arab documentary from the festivals official selection. The prize will be awarded either to the producer or distributor (If available), upon the presentation of a concrete and convincing distribution plan.
SIB will also be present in the networking session organised in the frame of DOCmed, a training programme for Arab producers organised by Beirut DC in tandem with the festival.
