Cinema Akil has announced the opening of the second edition of its Cinema Akil in 25hours programme. The seasonal outdoor outpost is being held at the open theatre at the 25hours Hotel Dubai One Central. Guests can enjoy free films for the entire month of November at the theatre, however, prior booking is required.
The second season of Cinema Akil in 25hours opened with the screening of the Palestinian documentary film, The Wanted 18, directed by Paul Cowan and Amer Shomali. Other films on the programme include Pina and Dancing Pina (in collaboration with Goethe Institute and Institut Francais); Casablanca Beats, Morocco’s official submission to the 94th Academy Awards; and French film, Les demoiselles de Rochefort. The programme also includes the screenings of two films in collaboration with Museum of the Future, during the Dubai Future Forum which will take place on November 19 and 20. The first is the animated film Robot Dreams by Pablo Berger. The second is the American-German documentary, directed by Hans Block and Moritz Riesewieck, about start-ups using AI to create avatars that allow people to talk with their loved ones after death.
