Piracy is a growing concern in MENA, and the conference will dwell on innovative ways through which content producers and broadcasters can safeguard their content.
Vijaya Cherian, Editorial Director at BroadcastPro ME, said: Last years conference set the stage for introductory discussions around piracy in MENA broadcast. As an influential magazine within the broadcast community, BroadcastPro ME has developed a reputation in the market over the years for facilitating and driving meaningful discussions around topics that have a big impact on the MENA industry. With piracy having a serious impact on the industrys bottom lines, we felt it was important to create a platform to bring together content owners, regulators, technology providers and the legal experts, to discuss and share their challenges with the larger market and see how they could potentially collaborate to protect their assets.
Last years edition was a huge success in terms of generating discussions around anti-piracy initiatives in the region, and we hope to take our legacy forward with this years line-up of high-profile speakers. We want to help build a pirate-free eco-system where content is valued not only in terms of ownership rights but also in terms of establishing fair business practices.
The aim of the conference is to bring together the entire chain of stakeholders to deliberate on new ways to keep pirates at bay in the MENA region. Targeted at MENA entertainment professionals, it will combine international best practices with regional know-how to offer new insights to content providers in combating piracy.
Attendees can look forward to drawing first-hand lessons from case studies of crackdowns by government teams, in partnership with broadcasters and the MENA Anti-Piracy Coalition, that have resulted in hefty fines and deportation orders. The conference will highlight ways to monitor the use of illegal cable networks and hybrid decoders to keep pace with TV pirates.
