The workshop aligns with the RedSeaIFF’s objectives of promoting professional and talented writers and honing their skills in an effort to support the artistic and cultural community in the Kingdom.
The SeriesLab, a Red Sea International Film Festival initiative, has launched its first training workshop in Los Angeles, according to a report by Arab News.
The SeriesLab in collaboration with New Reality Entertainment, is a hands-on professional and creative writing programme that provides writers the opportunity to work on their TV series pilot.
The programme seeks to establish a platform for series/episodic writers and provide them with the necessary resources and direction to produce the upcoming television series.
In the workshop, Saudi trainees, professional writers, and emerging talents selected by the Red Sea Lodge will learn how to write compelling stories for television pilots and pitch them to major networks.
A group writing workshop, one-on-one consultations, case studies, and master seminars will all be included in the seven-month curriculum. Additionally, the writers will be preparing their pitches towards the end of the workshop.
A panel of professionals presented the workshop, including producer David Janollari, former chair of NBC Entertainment Bob Greenblatt, and Desperate Housewives writer Marc Cherry. It also included an improvisation session with director Jamie Muir and a tour of the Writers Guild of America.
The workshops will be taking place between the United States and Saudi.
