The Eight, a new Arabic-language international TV production featuring actors from around the world, is streaming on Shahid VIP, the subscription-based service of Shahid.
The latest in the Shahid Originals catalogue, The Eight, is a suspense thriller that tells the story of a secret criminal cartel that decides to turn on its biggest member.
Filmed in Cairo, Paris, Lille, and Marrakech, the series features Egyptian superstars Asser Yassin and Khaled El Sawy in the lead roles. They’re joined by well-known faces from around the world – such as Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia, Morocco, and the United States. The cast includes Mohammed Alaa, Reem Mostafa, Mahmoud Al Bizawi, Hanan Suleiman, Lara Iskandar, Sara Adbulrahman, Ghada Adel, Mahmoud Mamdouh, Ahmad Fouad Saleem, Ahmad Wafik, Jihad Saad, Mounther Rayahnah, Mohammed Moftah, Wadah Siwar, Fatima Naser, Firas Saeed, Abdellatif Shawki, Khaled Saker, Michael Beach (Aquaman), Pasha Lychnikoff (Stranger Things), and Richard De Mayo (Homeland).
Penned by Turki Al Alshikh (KSA), and directed by Ahmed Medhat (Egypt), The Eight raises the question: Can someone, who has lost everything he loves, give up everything he owns for revenge? The events of the series revolve around Nasser, a millionaire businessman who has been working for over two decades in the criminal underworld as an arms dealer for a secret global organisation. With hubs around the world, the cartel decides to eliminate him in an operation that goes horribly wrong – he survives, but his only daughter doesn’t.
Nasser sets out to seek revenge, planning to expose the members of the organisation, along with all secrets and connections.
The Eight (Arabic language with English subtitles) premieres on Shahid VIP on June 9.
