The festival, scheduled to take place from October 11 to 16, is dedicated to enhancing the media literacy of children and youth, fostering creativity and showcasing films by children.
The eighth edition of the Sharjah International Film Festival (SIFF) has announced the last date of submission for the film competition as March 15.
SIFF is a project of FUNN, an organisation established by Sharjah government under the patronage of HH Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi.
The SIFF will be giving away awards for Best Child and Youth Made Film with a cash prize of 5000 AED ($1,361.29) to the director of the film.
The Best Student Film award, made by a college/ university student, is open for all nationalities will offer a cash prize of 7000 AED ($1,905.80).
The Best UAE Short Film award, which will judge short live-action, short animation, or short documentary films by Emirati filmmakers, will offer a cash prize of 10,000 AED ($2,722.57).
Other awards include Best GCC Short Film, Best International Short Film award and Best Documentary Film award with a cash prize of 10,000 AED ($2,722.57) each.
There will also be awards for the Best Animation Film and Best Feature Film offering a cash prize of 10,000 AED ($2,722.57) each.
Apart from the competition and film screenings, Q & A sessions, discussion panels and workshops will also be conducted with the filmmakers.
