CABSAT 2012 was opened by H.H. Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Director General of the Dubai Department of Information at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre this morning.
The three-day exhibition runs until March 1 and is expected to draw some 11,000 visitors from across the global broadcast and satellite industry.
CABSAT is the third largest event of its kind in the world and it has grown by 15% compared to last year due to the overwhelming interest from professional and industry visitors. This presages with a quantum leap in the digital media and broadcast industry, said H.H. Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum during his tour at the show.
New exhibitors at this years event include Al Aan TV, Creative Media Solutions, Comtech EF Data, Du, Dynavision, EADS, Felix Technology, First Gulf Company, Humax, Ikegami, Immarsat, Japan Radio Company, PAKSAT International, Skill Technology, Somita Trading, Sing Tel and SVS Telekom.
These are just a few of the 173 new exhibitors that make up 750 companies showcasing broadcast and satellite products at the event.
Other highlights for 2012 include, twofour54 tadreeb workshops, in conjunction with the BBC Academy, the Thought Incubator from Dubai Studio City and an outside broadcast area with the first OB van built in the UAE displayed by Best Broadcast Hire.
