The Best Short Film Award was presented to Fares Shaheen for his film 'The Red Shoes' from Syria.
Sharjah Media City (Shams) hosted the Shams Awards for Arabic Content, where H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, presented awards to the winners. The event took place at the Shams headquarters, celebrating outstanding achievements in Arabic content creation, according to a report by WAM.
In his opening remarks, Rashid Abdullah Al Obaid, Director of Sharjah Media City, highlighted the award’s role in fostering a creative ecosystem that supports content creators and promotes high-quality Arabic media. He emphasised that the initiative aligns with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, reinforcing the importance of media in shaping societies and preserving Arab identity.
Al Obaid encouraged young creatives to share their experiences and innovative ideas, helping them develop their skills and contribute to the evolving media landscape.
During the awards ceremony, several outstanding creators were recognised for their contributions. The Stories podcast by Jamal Al Mulla from the UAE won first place in the Best Arabic Podcast category, followed by Secrets of Money by Egypt’s Ahmed Al Jamal in second place and Art by Badr Al Awadhi from the UAE in third.
In the Best Short Film category, Fares Shaheen from Syria took home the top prize for his film The Red Shoes, while Libya’s Gabriel Al Nuwaiji won the Best Video for a Commercial Advertisement award.
The Best Content Creator on Social Media award went to Ahmed Raafat (Street Broadcaster) from Egypt. Second place was secured by Algeria’s Hafsa Mahyou, while Marwan Al Shehhi from the UAE took third.
Additionally, the jury members—media figure Ahmed Salem Bou Samnouh, director Nahla Al Fahad, Dr Hisham Zakaria and media personality Abdul Raouf Amira—were acknowledged for their contributions, along with sponsors and partners from various organisations.
Following the awards, H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi attended the annual media gathering organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau. This event provided a platform for media professionals and influencers to connect, exchange ideas and collaborate on advancing the media sector and Arabic content creation.
Expressing gratitude to the media professionals for their role in shaping the UAE’s media landscape, the Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council personally greeted attendees and reaffirmed Sharjah’s commitment to media excellence.
