UK-based broadcaster BSkyB will tie with a UAE entity to officially launch Sky News Arabia on November 29, BroadcastPro Middle East has learnt.
Adrian Wells, former head of Foreign News at Sky News, will be the launch director of Sky News Arabia. Sky will have two people at its local office initially. The launch of the channel itself is believed to be scheduled for 2012 only.
According to sources, Sky will operate from twofour54, the media content zone in Abu Dhabi.
Although the identity of the local partner is not yet known, it is widely rumoured that it may be related to an energy company in the UAE.
The local representative declined to comment.
