Weyyak will stream Smashi's content across all of its licensed digital platforms under this agreement.
Augustus Media and Zee Entertainment have signed a partnership with the Weyyak platform for its smart TV application, Smashi TV.
Owned by Augustus Media, Smashi is an OTT streaming service that covers business, tech and culture news from the Middle East and North Africa. Smashi provides users with access to content, on-demand viewing, and the option of downloading videos.
Weyyak, Zee Entertainment’s Arabic Video on Demand platform, offers a library of content in Arabic, Turkish, and exclusive Indian shows.
Weyyak will stream Smashi’s content via all of its licensed digital platforms including its website, tablets, connected TV, and mobile application available on Google Play and App Store.
In addition to enhancing the relationship between Smashi and Weyyak audiences, this partnership will provide area-related news to its Arab audience.
Augustus Media and Weyyak hope to enhance their respective positions as leading on-demand content providers.
Speaking about the partnership, Nadine Samra, Chief Business Officer of Weyyak, said: “Our priority is to offer our audiences a variety of content that we select carefully in order to keep them entertained anytime, anywhere. Through our collaboration with Smashi.tv, Weyyak’s audience will also have the privilege of browsing news content across all devices to remain up to date.”
Richard Fitzgerald, CEO & Founder Augustus Media, added: “We have been impressed with what Zee has accomplished with Weyyak over the last few years as the streaming ecosystem develops. It is important to find the right strategic partnerships and we believe we have it in this case. The business and tech content Smashi focuses on is niche and working with exciting platforms like Weyyak is a great way for us to provide original content to an existing audience.“
