Prior to joining Sony in 2016, Grant worked at Rubenstein Communications, where she repped New York institutions and clients across film, television and arts.
Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) has announced the promotion of Tahra Grant to the position of Chief Communications Officer. In her new role as Executive Vice President, Grant will directly report to SPE CEO Tony Vinciquerra. Previously, she led corporate communications for the studio’s Motion Picture Group for eight years, showcasing her exceptional leadership and strategic communication skills.
Grant’s appointment follows the departure of Bob Lawson, who was recently promoted to lead corporate communications for Sony Group Corporation and will be based in Tokyo. Despite the transition, Grant and Lawson will maintain a close working relationship in their respective roles.
During her tenure at Sony, Grant has been instrumental in shaping the communication strategies for several notable film projects, including Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood, the acclaimed Spider-Man trilogy starring Tom Holland, Where the Crawdads Sing, Little Women, The Woman King, Anyone but You, and renowned franchises like Spider-Verse, Jumanji, The Equalizer, and Ghostbusters.
Before joining Sony in 2016, Grant honed her expertise at New York-based PR firm Rubenstein Communications, where she collaborated closely with Bob Lawson. At Rubenstein, she represented esteemed clients such as the Tribeca Film Festival, Tribeca Enterprises, the Metropolitan Opera, and the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
Tahra Grant’s promotion underscores SPE’s commitment to fostering talent within its ranks and recognising exceptional leadership contributions.
