Plotkin joined SPT from All In Media, a production company he founded that specialised in packaging IP and developing original ideas.
Sony Pictures Television has announced the promotion of Andrew Plotkin to the position of Head of Drama Development. Formerly serving as Senior Vice President of Drama Development for Sony TV, Plotkin’s promotion follows Lauren Stein’s move to the newly created role of Head of Creative for Sony Pictures Television Studios.
In his new capacity, Plotkin will continue reporting to Stein while taking charge of the development of all scripted drama series at the studio.
Speaking about the promotion, Stein said: “A leader with a unique ability to cultivate relationships across all segments of the business, Andrew has been able to build strong creative foundations for original shows and IP that provide pathways for expanding and sustaining long-running series. Andrew’s enthusiasm, entrepreneurial spirit, and stellar creative instincts have made an invaluable contribution towards seeing these complicated and challenging endeavours come to fruition. Andrew has been a friend and colleague of mine for over 20 years, and I couldn’t be happier for our relationship to continue.”
Andrew Plotkin joined Sony in 2017 and has played a significant role in developing notable shows such as The Boys and its spinoffs on Amazon, along with the recently launched Goosebumps series on Disney+. His portfolio also includes multiple Spider-Man universe shows and the God of War series on Amazon’s Prime Video, as well as the Horizon Zero Dawn series on Netflix, among other projects.
Before joining Sony, Plotkin founded All In Media, a production company focused on packaging intellectual property and developing original ideas. Prior to that, he served as the Head of Television at New Regency Productions and as the Head of Development for Syfy. Plotkin has also contributed his expertise to CCTV, Class IV Productions, and Warner Bros. Television.
