According to the study, comedy, anime, and Arabic drama continue to be the most-watched genres in Saudi Arabia.
StarzPlay has released a study revealing the viewership trends of Saudi audiences in 2022.
Comedy, anime and Arabic drama were the most watched categories in the Kingdom, the study found.
The Big Bang Theory, The Office and Two and a Half Men, are amongst the top-watched comedy shows while Naruto, Naruto Shippuden and Attack on Titan top the list of anime favourites in the Kingdom. StarzPlay is expanding its anime genre with the addition of the anime movie One Piece: Stampede.
Ertugrul and Al Mo’asses Osman are the most-watched Turkish titles this year amongst Saudi viewers while the new season of Bab Al Hara and Daheeh tops the chart for premium Arabic content. As per the study, StarzPlay subscribers in Saudi Arabia enjoyed exclusive action movies like Hummingbird, Wild Card, Gringo, and Misfits this year in addition to exclusive first-run movie releases straight from the cinema like House of Gucci, Infinite, Last Seen Alive and Clean. Entertainment enthusiasts in the Kingdom also enjoyed binge-watching series like Dexter: New Blood, The Flash, Your Honour, Young Sheldon, The Good Doctor and Mr Robot.
StarzPlay users in Saudi Arabia loved watching content on their big screens with the platform witnessing 42% of its consumption on Smart TVs followed by iOS and Android devices. Sports as a genre worked very well on the platform this year with sports lovers enjoying Serie A matches, AEW wrestling, Cricket Cups and UFC fights on the platform.
