The Malmö Arab Film Festival (MAFF) in Sweden, a partner of the Arab Cinema Center (ACC), has announced an open call for applications for Arab film projects to take part in its MAFF Development Funding starting March 1 until April 30, 2018. Held on the sidelines of the 8th Malmö Arab Film Festival from 5-9 October, the MAFF Development Funding aims to stimulate co-productions between Sweden and the Arab countries.
MAFF Development Funding focuses on providing support to Arab feature, short, and documentary film projects in the development stage. Projects should focus on topics that concern Arab culture, identity, exile or diversity. In the 2017 edition, an amount of USD 30,000 was awarded to various projects.
At the same time,film submissions for the competitions of the 8th Malmö Arab Film Festival are still open in the feature, documentary and short film categories. Deadline for submission is March 31, 2018.
MAFF Market Forum (MMF) is a platform for the Nordic and Arab film industries designed to stimulate collaboration, co-production and distribution opportunities. MMF brings together producers, funds, distributors and film professionals in seminars, lectures, workshops, pitching venues, networking sessions. MMF includes market screenings, and offers several funding initiatives for Nordic-Arab co-productions. MAFF Market Forum presents an opportunity for film professionals to exhibit and present their work, extend their networks and initiate new international collaborations and co-productions.
