It marks the second remake of the film after a South Korean version was produced in 2019.
Tokyo Broadcasting System Television (TBS) has signed a remake option agreement with Turkish production company Most Production to adapt its 1999 drama Le Bel Homme for Turkish audiences. Originally penned by screenwriter Shinji Nojima, the drama gained popularity as an “adult romance.”
The Turkish adaptation’s script will be written by Ipek Kadilar, known for her work on Flames of Desire (Hayat Şarkısı) and Glass Mask (Içimdeki Fırtına), both based on original Korean series. This project marks her first experience adapting a Japanese drama. “Being part of Le Bel Homme’s journey into Turkey as its writer is an exciting opportunity,” Kadilar shared.
If the Turkish adaptation moves forward, it will mark the second international remake of the series, following the South Korean version released in 2019.
Jun Fukai, General Manager of TBS Global Business Development Department, stated: ‘We are very pleased to begin the development of Le Bel Homme with a strong partner, Most Production, which has produced numerous hit movies. We eagerly anticipate the day when Le Bel Homme, which has been remade in Korea, will be broadcast in Turkey as well.”
