Karga Seven’s founders, Sarah Wetherbee, Emre Sahin and Kelly McPherson, will remain in leadership roles.
The North Road Company, owned by Peter Chernin, has acquired Turkish production firm Karga Seven Pictures, in its first major international acquisition. The deal was led by Jan Frouman, President of North Road.
Sarah Wetherbee, Emre Sahin, and Kelly McPherson, Karga Seven’s founders, will remain in leadership roles, with Wetherbee and Sahin serving as global co-CEOs, and McPherson heading up the English language content. The company has also hired Ömer Müjdat Özgüner as its CEO for Turkey. Wetherbee and Sahin will both report to Frouman.
Istanbul and LA-based Karga Seven is known for its English-language period drama Rise of Empires: Ottoman and Turkish-language time travel drama Midnight at the Pera Palace, both of which were made for Netflix. The company is also behind Hekimoglu, the Turkish remake of the US medical drama House.
North Road’s London-based international unit is led by Frouman and President of International Film & TV Kristin Jones.
Karga Seven had previously been majority owned by Red Arrow Studios, with its US assets acquired by North Road in a $200m deal last year.
