Al-Rashed Empire Cinema Consortium intends to build 30 cinema theatres in various cities of the Kingdom in the coming three years.
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Media and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Audiovisual Media, Dr. Awwad Al-Awwad, issued the third license for operating cinema theaters to Al-Rashed Empire Cinema Consortium which intends to build 30 cinema theatres in various cities of the Kingdom in the coming three years, Saudi Gazette reported quoting a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report.
The issuing of cinema licences follows the announcement of the General Commission for Audiovisual Medias (GCAM) to grant domestic licenses to cinema providers, to support the Vision 2030 objective of growing household spending on entertainment from 2.9% to 6% of GDP.
This follows from the decision last year by the KSA government to lift the ban on cinemas after 35 years.
