The creators will be able to share football-related content in the fan pit and take part in challenges for the chance to win prizes.
Short-form mobile video app TikTok has launched its very first Virtual Fan Pit. Designed to unite football fans across the MENA region and involve them in the tournament during the pandemic, the fan pit is a platform for creators to share football-related content and take part in challenges for the chance to win prizes.
In less than two weeks since the start of the UEFA Euro 2020 championship, more than 3,000 creators have joined the Virtual Fan Pit, demonstrating the popularity of the event and more so, the appetite for football content across the Middle East and North Africa. In fact, to date there has been around 58m views on the #EURO2020 hashtag across the region and around 38m on the #TikTokEURO2020 hashtag respectively.
Rami Zeidan, Head of Video and Creative at TikTok, said: “The magic of football tournaments is the fans and their energy, therefore we wanted to ignite this passion on TikTok even if they can’t be there in person. With our advanced features and AR capabilities, our community across the region are able to share their love for the game in creative ways, whilst providing the opportunity for brands to connect with a captive audience of sports fans.”
As part of the TikTok Virtual Fan Pit, creators will be able to make use of a range of exciting features including AR effects, Hashtag Challenges, TikTok LIVEs and Sounds for the community, for the chance to win cool prizes from brands.
TikTok is the official partner of the UEFA Euro 2020 and is the first digital entertainment platform to sponsor a major international tournament.
