TROPFEST Arabia has announced the names of its 12 finalists, whose films will be competing in Abu Dhabi on November 4, 2011. TROPFEST Arabia has announced the names of its 12 finalists, whose films will be competing in Abu Dhabi on November 4, 2011.
The following finalists were independently selected by TROPFEST founder John Polson and TROPFEST Arabia co-director Ahmed Helmy.
Abbas Al Badri, Iraq; Ahmed Ghazal, Egypt; Fouzia Hassine, Morocco; Jassem Al Jabbouri, Iraq; Jad Chehayeb, Lebanon; Karim Mohamed Mahmoud, Egypt; Lubna Saeed Al Amoodi, UAE; Mina Ghttas, Egypt; Mohamed Al Harethu, Oman; Mony Mahmoud; Mohammed Sabri and Sherif Mokbel from Egypt are the finalists.
One of their films will be selected as the winner of the inaugural TROPFEST Arabia by the celebrity jury, who will watch the films for the first time live with the audience in Abu Dhabi. The jury contains some of the regions most celebrated actors, with members coming from Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and the UAE.
The finalists will be competing for a variety of fantastic prizes, with the winner receiving $12,500, a trip to LA to meet top film executives, and a trip to Australia to be a judge at TROPFEST Australia; the filmmaker in second place will receive $7,500 and an internship with MBC, with third place receiving prize of $5000 and a free colour grading of a short film at twofour54s Intaj studios.
Hosted by twofour54, TROPFEST Arabia will be held in partnership with Flash Entertainment, the host of Yasalam 2011.
