TROPFEST Arabia is calling local talent to attend filmmaking workshops in Casablanca and Marrakesh this week.
Two workshops will be hosted by award-winning Moroccan director, Nassim Abbasi, who will provide aspiring filmmakers with tips on how to make and submit a successful short film for TROPFEST Arabia 2012. The first of these workshops will take place at The Marrakesh School of Visual Arts (ESAV), on Friday June 15th from 6-8pm, with the following workshop being held at IHB Art Media in Casablanca on Monday June 18th from 4-6pm.
First time filmmakers in the Arab world are encouraged to submit their work to TROPFEST Arabia, which supports new and emerging talent in the film industry. Sponsored by twofour54 Abu Dhabi, this is TROPFESTs second year in the Middle East. Shortlisted films will be showcased at a public screening in Abu Dhabi and also be available online for viewing, aiming to reach a worldwide audience.
TROPFEST Arabia has recently held workshops in Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman, with Morocco being the final destination.
Entries can be submitted to the festival from now until September 6. Finalists will be shortlisted by September 30, and the winner shall be announced at the Festival Night, October 26.
