Twitter has appointed Benjamin Ampen as Head of Sales for the MENA region. The social media platform is preparing to open an office in Dubai by Q3 this year.
Ampen was previously head of sales for Continental Europe and New Markets at Twitter.
Ampen, a former Google executive, said in a statement that he will draw upon his “extensive experience in the technology sector” to lead Twitter’s growth in the region.
Since joining Twitter in 2012, he has launched the company’s sales activities in France, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany and Italy.
Parminder Singh, Managing Director of Twitter in SEA, India and MENA, said: “Ampen’s credentials are of the highest calibre and he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of Twitter to one of our most exciting and fast moving regions.
“As part of a strategic decision to invest in resources in the MENA region, Ampen’s appointment will put Twitter in a strong position to drive greater awareness and communicate value of the brand’s products across Middle East and North Africa.”
Ampen added: “Dubai is the hub for many brands, who are realising the potential of Twitter to connect them with a targeted global audience, and I am eager to start working in the region to help organisations best leverage Twitter’s potential.”
