Abu Dhabis content generation zone Twofour54 will bring Tropfest, Australias largest short film festival and competition, to the UAE capital this November. Tropfest Arabia was announced at the annual Sydney event early this week by Tropfest founder John Polson.
Filmmakers in the Middle East and North Africa can submit short films no longer than seven minutes for the inaugural November event.
Entries are limited to citizens of Algeria, Bahrain , Djibouti, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, UAE and Yemen.
Tropfest Arabia will offer cash prizes of $15,000, $10,000 and $5,000 as well as other benefits such as a visit to Los Angeles to meet with senior executives from the film industry, a trip to Australia to take part in Tropfest 2012, and several other opportunities.
Winner of Tropfest 2011, Damon Gameau will be on the judging panel for the inaugural Arabia fest.
Tropfest Arabia will attract an initial audience of 7000 to 10,000, according to twofour54 CEO Wayne Borg.
