The UAE Entertainment Experience, a multi-platform production project that was launched earlier this year by Sharjah Media City (Shams) in collaboration with Art Format Lab has revealed that the thirty film production teams have entered the third phase of the project.
Speaking to Broadcast Pro ME Khulud Abu Homos, Chairwoman of Art Format Lab said: The third phase of the initiative is significant because the teams have completed workshops on screenwriting, directing, acting and cinematography.
They have spent time with the dream team and have received feedback on their previous submissions as part of phases one and two.
The third phase is where the teams’ improved filmmaking skills are showcased, and their workflow becomes more professional, she added.
She explained: In every phase, the teams are required to shoot ten minutes of a script provided by the official screenwriter Mohammed Hasan Ahmad. The teams are also required to submit a suggested script for the screenwriter to be inspired by it for the next ten-minute script. The teams have completed shooting another ten minutes, which is the third round of the first Emirati user-generated feature film. This means they have completed shooting 30 minutes so far.
As the Entertainment Experience gears up for its mega screening in November 2019, the teams still have four more phases to complete before they create a feature film.

Things are going according to schedule. Through a process of elimination, 12 of the submitted feature films will be screened at Shams Cinema Week with the attendance of leading entities in the media and cinema industry, she noted.
The entire initiative puts the team under real-life filmmaking circumstances and gives them the chance to produce their first feature film so they can launch their careers from then on.
The UAE Entertainment Experience which ranks as a first of its kind initiative in film and television production in the region spotlights a team of professional filmmakers who lend their support to aspiring filmmakers, enabling them to create a feature film as the final step of the project.
