Dubai-based United Broadcast & Media Solutions (UBMS) and UK-based Vitec Videocom conducted a day-long workshop titled: “Step into the light” introducing Litepanels Gemini, a 2×1 LED panel, to the industry in Dubai.
The workshop was conducted by David Newton, professional photographer and filmmaker and Richard Lackey, Product Manager, UBMS.
The sessions covered lighting for video and still photography. Attendees were given hands-on demonstrations of building lighting set ups for video interviews and fashion photography.
Speaking to BroadcastPro ME, Sahl Beldi, Marketing Manager for UBMS stated: “As you can see, we have good attendance from production houses, broadcasters, filmmakers and freelancers. The new Litepanels Gemini is a 2×1 LED panel providing a nice wide soft source of colour accurate illumination. Price wise it is reasonable. We are conducting this workshop in collaboration with Vitec Videocom and we are happy that we have David Newton, a professional photographer and filmmaker, himself, conducting the workshop.”
Commenting on the product, David Newton stated: “The Litepanels Gemini is a brand new lighting technology and it changes the way we think about light. It gives us so many more options and so much more accuracy. We want the industry to try out the product and want to demonstrate how the product can simplify workflow. From accurate, full spectrum daylight and tungsten lighting to options of wireless controls, the product is versatile. As an end user myself, any thing that makes my work simpler is a winner. Also the Litepanels Gemini at around 10kgs is six kgs lighter than the current industry standard which makes it better in terms of moving it around – a perfect location light for my crew.”
One of the attendees, Alessandro Pavone, a freelance cameraman and filmmaker based in Dubai commented: “I am planning to buy lighting equipment and this is a unique and interesting opportunity because in Dubai sometimes it is difficult to get access to professional equipment. Not only can I see the product but the workshop gives me hands-on access which is useful.”
A spokesperson for Vitec Videocom informed BroadcastPro ME of plans to have a series of similar workshops in the coming months in the region.
