Broadcast & Professional Video equipment distributor UBMS held a camera support and lighting master at the UBMS Training Academy in Garhoud, Dubai. The three-hour session was conducted by Vitec Videocom specialists Tobias Keuthen and Stephen Rodway. Vitec Videocom brought together some of the most respected brands in the industry, including Sachtler, Litepanels, OConnor, Vinten and Anton Bauer.
The hands-on master class hosted 24 industry professionals to have an up, close and personal experience with the premium camera support systems and innovative lighting solutions. The attendees were introduced to the Sachtler’s Video 18 S2 Fluid Head as well as the lighter system ACE tripod and the heavier cine style OConnor 1030D. Insights were shared into how to choose a fluid head and tripod for any application from a DSLR to a full-sized ENG and cinema camera, including setup and balancing.
The range of high power LED Fresnels and panels from Litepanels was on hand to demonstrate the flexibility and advantages of LED lighting, including remote control of up to 12 lights from the Litepanels iPhone app.
Commenting on the session, Richard Lackey, Product Manager at UBMS, said: “It is important to keep updated with the innovations that allow more creative control over the images we make. The ability to precisely dial-in and adjust individual lamp intensity and colour temperature of a 12-light setup from a phone app represents a huge time saving and convenience on set.”
There was a good mix of professionals at the master class including cinematographers, media professionals, broadcast engineers, lighting operators, camera operators, TV channel professionals and filmmakers.
Three Sachtler System ACE tripod systems were given away in a quiz to three lucky winners at the end of the class.
