A new report from Arab Advisors profiles 25 production houses in seven Arab countries and a total of 43 Arabic films which aired for the first time in cinemas in 2017 and 2018.
The Arab Advisors Groups latest report titled, Arabic Film Production Houses in the Arab World released on June 20, 2019, has found that film production continues to play a major role in the world of entertainment.
The 30-page report, which has 38 detailed exhibits, provides an overview of Arabic-language film productions produced by a selection of 25 production houses.
The production houses that were analysed are based in seven Arab countries, namely – Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Qatar.
The report says that Arab audiences are watching more films in cinemas and through mobile on-demand applications like Apple TV, Netflix or HULU. This has encouraged Arab-language production houses to collaborate with foreign houses and compete on a global level with European, Turkish and Indian productions.
According to the report, production houses based in Egypt have produced the highest number of Arabic-language films which aired for the first time in cinemas in 2017 and 2018. Among the analysed production houses, those based in Egypt produced a total of 14 Arabic-language films which aired for the first time in cinemas in 2018 compared to a total of 11 Arabic-language films in 2017, Zaina Zawaideh, Arab Advisors Groups Research Analyst noted.
The report finds that the analysed production houses produced a total of 25 Arabic films, which aired for the first time in cinemas in 2017. The report further stated that the production houses understudy produced a total of 18 Arabic films that aired for the first time in cinemas during 2018.
