Al Arabiya and Al Hadath will be accessed via Freeview if users have a TV aerial and a compatible TV or box connected to the internet.
Vision247 Limited and Mondo Globo have announced the launch of two new Freeview IP streamed channels – Al Arabiya and Al Hadath, both streaming on Freeview Logical Channel Number (LCN) 273.
Al Arabiya is an international Arabic television news channel and part of the media conglomerate MBC Group based in Dubai. Al Arabiya broadcasts standard newscasts every hour, as well as talk shows and documentaries. These programmes primarily cover current affairs, business, stock markets, and sports.
Al-Hadath meaning “The Event” is an Arab news interactive channel focusing on live coverage of political events in the Arab region, and is a sister channel to Al Arabiya.
Both channels are operating MHEG and HBBTV Apps in order to ensure that the channels are available to as many users as possible, on the UK’s TV platform, Freeview, used in 18m UK homes and giving access to 95% of the nation’s access for free. Further, the proportion of UK TV households that use their TV set to watch online or on-demand content and thus their TV is connected to the internet reached 79%. To access Al Arabiya and Al Hadath via Freeview, viewers require a TV ariel, and either a compatible TV or box that is connected to the internet, with a minimum broadband speed of 2 Mbps (SD) and 3 Mbps (HD).
