VOD service provider for emerging markets Vuclip has announced that it will release a slate of original productions for Arab and Asian audiences. The first Arabic original from the Vu stable will be Hob Al Tayebin, a family comedy, that has been produced by the OTT platform in partnership with Saudi-based entertainment company, UTurn. The series will make its debut online in December 2017. Vuclip has also announced the roll out of ten Asian productions for Middle East audiences.
The Asian productions include Gehraiyaan, Spotlight, Social, What the Duck 1 and 2, Wedding Khichdi, Challiya, No 1 Yaari, Switch and The Publicist.
Viu is an OTT video service with a reported 21 million downloads across 15 markets including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and the Middle East countries of Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Viu has developed more than 3,000 hours of original content across Asia, with a format that targets millennials.
