The forum launched in 2011 as a notable undertaking under the China-Arab cooperation framework.
The Emirates News Agency (WAM) took an active role in the sixth China-Arab States Broadcasting and Television Cooperation Forum, held on December 10 in Hangzhou, the capital of east China’s Zhejiang Province.
In a keynote speech titled “Technological Empowerment: Promoting Integrated Technology in the Media,” Abdullah Abdulkarim, Acting Executive Director of the News Content Sector at WAM, underscored the crucial need to deepen media and news collaboration between Arab and Chinese entities. The emphasis was on fostering cultural exchange and facilitating a meaningful dialogue between civilizations. Abdulkarim specifically highlighted the potential of joint programmes in radio, television, and news exchange as pivotal in achieving this critical objective, according to a report by WAM.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of technology in empowering both Arab and Chinese media landscapes, Abdulkarim pointed out the significant contributions of communication tools, institutional strategies, and smart systems in facilitating this empowerment. He stressed that these technological advancements play a key role in developing capabilities, enhancing necessary skills, and streamlining the exchange of information across linguistic barriers.
In response to the rapid advancements in the technology sector, the prevalence of social media applications, and the growing influence of smart artificial software, Abdulkarim highlighted the urgency of embracing these technologies and capitalising on their vast potential.
He stated: “Strengthening strategic media cooperation between the Arab world and China will be instrumental in driving integrated development in the media landscape. By leveraging advanced technologies, this enhanced collaboration will serve societies, promote the well-being of people, and meet the diverse informational needs and aspirations of individuals across all sectors and segments.”
The forum, established in 2011 as a significant initiative within the China-Arab cooperation framework, successfully convened more than 300 delegates from both regions, marking a significant step towards fostering collaboration and understanding between Arab and Chinese media entities.
