The prospective comedians can apply for the new initiative until July 1.
Warner Bros. Discovery Access, the diversity, equity and inclusion portal for the newly branded company, has announced its new Comedic Voices Programme to find fresh humorous voices for new late-night and unscripted programming spaces.
The all-new programme, open to emerging late-night writers and unscripted producers from diverse communities and backgrounds, will consist of a one-week bootcamp focused on long-form monologue writing, celebrity voice writing and joke punch-ups.
Speaking about the programme, Karen Horne, SVP of Diversity + Equity + Inclusion, said: “Our programme is designed to position up and coming comedians for next-level career success. We recognise that access continues to present barriers to performers from historically marginalised groups. So we’re creating opportunities for them to show what they can do in front of global audiences in order to propel the trajectory of their already promising careers.”
The Comedic Voices Programme joins a growing list of WBD Diversity + Equity+ Inclusion access initiatives created to give voice and opportunity to underrepresented groups in front of and behind-the-camera. It was designed to provide exposure for up and coming comedic voices to increase access to opportunities across WBD’s cable and television networks, and streaming platforms. The WBD Diversity+ Equity + Inclusion team will team up with Turner Scripted (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee), Turner Unscripted and HBO to curate this exclusive opportunity.
Applications for the new initiative is available in the United States till July 1 with the programme beginning in mid-October 2022.
