Wochit, the social video creation platform has announced the appointment of Colm Curneen, as the companys Director Of Business Development.
Curneen, who is a media industry veteran with more than 15 years of experience, joins from Storyful, a social media intelligence and news agency, acquired by News Corp in 2013.
Curneen will be responsible for managing strategic partnerships, continuing to grow an international portfolio of clients and overseeing teams within the company.
Wochit was founded in 2012 by Dror Ginzberg and is a video creation platform that enables publishers, news rooms and content creators to produce short-form videos around trending topics at the scale and speed required in the video-first, mobile era. It works with worldwide media brands such as Time Inc., Daily News, USA Today, Gannett, AOL and The Week.
As part of the platform, it has rights-cleared assets from AP, Reuters, Getty, Bloomberg and others, cloud-based editing tools so that video content is quickly created and distributed across all social and digital channels. Last year, Wochit announced the closing of another funding round worth $13 million, bringing the total it has raised to date to $28 million.
Curneen said of his appointment: Wochit is a globally recognised leader in social video, and its an honour to be involved. Im delighted to be joining this dynamic team and to being part of the companys future growth and success.
Dror Ginzberg, Co-Founder and CEO of Wochit, said: Colm has outstanding experience and joins Wochit at a time when he can really help our growth plans. Were delighted to welcome him to the senior team.
