Zahid will be responsible for leading strategy on Moonbug’s long-term growth in the region with an aim to build out global franchises.
Candle Media-owned Moonbug Entertainment has appointed former Warner Bros. Discovery executive Yasmin Zahid as Head of Distribution and Brand Partnerships for APAC. Zahid will start her role at Moonbug on July 17.
Reporting to Nicolas Eglau, Managing Director of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and APAC at Moonbug, Zahid will be responsible for Moonbug’s long-term growth in APAC to build out global franchises.
He will replace Kelly Cooke who is leaving the company to pursue new opportunities.
Zahid will be responsible for extending Moonbug’s channel and content syndication presence in APAC by expanding its partnerships. She will also create originals with key platforms and broadcasters in the region, which recently saw the launch of Moonbug’s linear channel in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
He previously served as the Executive Vice President and Head of Affiliate and B2B Distribution at WarnerMedia, overseeing the successful launch of HBO GO in markets across Asia in the midst of the pandemic.
Speaking about the new role, Zahid said: “Moonbug Entertainment has some of the world’s most well-known brands and content that kids and parents love, such as CoComelon, Blippi, and Oddbods just to name a few. I am excited to be part of the Moonbug family to expand its footprint in APAC, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Eglau added: “We are very excited to welcome Yasmin to the Moonbug family. With her impressive track record and industry knowledge, I have no doubt she will be an invaluable addition to our company, leading Moonbug’s future growth and expansion in the APAC region. Yasmin’s appointment is a testament to our ambitious plans. Her vast experience and network will be key in continuing the wonderful work in bringing our popular shows to even wider audiences.”
