While delivering on viewers’ service expectations around video quality, Audience-aware Streaming also enables operators to reduce their overall environmental impact.
Ateme is bringing its audience-aware streaming solution to CABSAT. This delivers more sustainable streaming while optimising the quality of experience. The combination of audience-aware encoding and audience-aware elastic CDN results in a powerful tool for optimising resources to reduce energy consumption while increasing quality.
The solution addresses two key concerns of the streaming industry: optimising quality of experience and minimising carbon emissions. It does this by making both video encoding and video delivery more efficient. It addresses video encoding and elastic CDNs. While delivering on viewers’ service expectations around video quality, audience-aware streaming also enables operators to reduce their overall environmental impact.
In an elastic CDN, the CDN gets information about which CDN nodes are being solicited. Furthermore, the CDN is cloud-native and can allocate resources to different functions within minutes. It uses the information to allocate only the necessary resources for the CDN function – while other resources can be used for other functions, such as file transcoding. When necessary, it can temporarily expand the CDN, and then immediately go back to its previous size.
Christophe Stigas, Vice President of South EMEA at Ateme, said: “This last year has thrust the MENA region into the spotlight, with Qatar hosting the World Cup. The need to contribute and deliver video at the very best quality, with the lowest latency, has been the driving force behind many innovations, and we are thrilled to have been part of that – for example, enabling ultra-high definition, immersive-audio experiences. We’re excited to share at CABSAT, in booth S1- J30, how our technology can help companies in the MENA region achieve this, and more.”
