Bridge Technologies has added a graphics option for the VBC (VideoBRIDGE Controller) digital media monitoring system that makes it easy for users to create a unique bespoke graphic front end tailored to their monitoring environment. With the Bridge Technologies GFX-OPT module, users can create a sophisticated graphic interface with unprecedented ease and without needing specialist skills, scripting, or coding.
The graphics module is a major enhancement of the VBC system’s ability to present large volumes of complex data in a form that users can understand quickly and easily. Users can create an entire graphical environment, with exact diagrammatical representation of network topologies and map-based display of geographical service delivery. Once the custom interface has been created, the tools allow users to link each object to a source of live data easily to provide intuitive, colour-coded status displays in real time.
With the optional module, VBC users can create a monitoring front end that displays color-coded status overviews in a variety of ways. Staff can monitor service delivery from map-based displays and respond to visual alerts by clicking on a state to drill down to a city-by-city display, and further down into city areas and neighbourhoods. With a production-system display, a flow-diagram-style overview can be interrogated for greater detail right down to individual Bridge Technologies probes, identifying the source of any error at any point from receiver through descrambler, MUX, and CAS servicing point to streamer and further downstream in the network.
To help users design their graphic front end quickly and easily, the module is supplied with extensively modifiable templates for geographic views of any national or international operation, production-centre views, and service-based views. The graphics tools support rapid construction of a completely custom interface, with objects such as buttons, lists, and links from overviews to more detailed data displays. A full library of graphic objects for all the Bridge Technologies products and delivery-chain components such as satellite dishes, CAS system, routers, and MUXes makes it easy to create diagrammatic displays quickly that exactly represent the customer’s unique network topology.
The VBC options module can be used with Microsoft Visio or any graphics package that supports SVG file format output.
“The graphics module means that for the first time, it’s possible for digital media monitoring personnel to create an entirely original user environment that completely fits their operation without needing any special skills and without getting involved in scripting or coding,” said Simen Frostad, chairman of Bridge Technologies.
“It’s so much easier for monitoring staff to see what’s happening with their operation when the displays exactly reflect their topology and fit their working methods. This new graphics option means users can choose to display the monitoring status overviews in any way that makes good sense to them and supports quick decision-making.”
The VideoBRIDGE graphics option is available immediately and will be showcased at IBC.
