By integrating the capabilities of PAINT 9.8 and Virtual Placement 7.6, broadcasters will be able to engage fans more deeply in coverage of live sports.
Chyron has announced two major updates to its sports analysis offerings: PAINT 9.8 and Virtual Placement 7.6, both designed to enhance live sports production with advanced replay, telestration and dynamic virtual graphics.
PAINT 9.8, Chyron’s illustrated replay solution, now enables sports broadcasters to manage high-end replay playout and telestration from a single system. With the new standalone playlist management tool, operators can create and manage up to nine playlists, streamlining clip playback during live broadcasts. The system also maintains simple telestration functionality, allowing operators to easily modify live and editable clips during broadcasts.
Additionally, PAINT 9.8 introduces an upgraded graphics package with modern assets, customisable team branding options, and new analysis tools like the pass counter and line distance calculator, all contributing to a professional on-screen presentation.
Andreas Olsson, Product Manager at Chyron, said: “PAINT 9.8 is a game-changer in how producers handle replay and telestration during live production. The ability to drive illustrated replay playlists entirely from within PAINT eliminates the requirement for a third-party replay server with a dedicated operator. Our team is making professional telestration and analysis far more accessible to the sports broadcast market with this exciting new functionality.”
The Virtual Placement 7.6 update continues Chyron’s commitment to advancing virtual graphics technology, particularly for American football broadcasts. Enhanced optical tracking and calibration now deliver greater precision on NFL and NCAA fields, ensuring accuracy even in challenging conditions such as thin field lines or varying lighting. A new red zone tool highlights key areas during games, while improvements to the down and distance feature and play clock integration, including 3D play clock displays, provide greater flexibility in positioning and animating game graphics.
Together, PAINT 9.8 and Virtual Placement 7.6 offer broadcasters the ability to deliver visually compelling live sports coverage. These tools work in harmony to create an immersive and engaging viewing experience, elevating the standard for live sports storytelling and keeping audiences captivated with advanced graphics and real-time replays.
