FileCatalyst has announced an integration partnership with Ardis Technologies to combine accelerated media file transfer with its DynamicDrivePool (DDP) series of Ethernet based SAN systems.
Ardis Technologies started as a technical ICT company with consultants, software design and coding engineers, specialists in electronic design and product and information management. The company concentrated on developing one-stop-shop solutions for products or projects involving electronic and/or hardware design and software. Today Ardis Technologies manufactures the DynamicDrivePool (DDP) series of Ethernet based SAN systems with built-in Metadata Controller, the Ardis Virtual File System, AVFS. The DDP provides full Project and File Level Based Sharing for Avid, Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools, EVS, Adobe, Grass Valley, Telestream, Fork, Black Magic, DVS, Digital Vision, Autodesk and all other applications with any video, audio and film format from DV to 4K/DPX/Cineon. The DDP can also be integrated with MAM and Backup systems.
The DDP is designed to be a high-performance, online storage system which is simple to connect. Its an ethernet SAN, running its own stable virtual file system, readily interpreted by any device. It can be treated as a simple disk drive by all the popular editing systems and supports all video formats, including 4K Ultra-HD, DPX and Cineon.
As media files exponentially increase in size in the media and entertainment sphere, the delivery of these files between facilities is important. For users sending and receiving large format media files using methods such as email or FTP, transfers quickly become very slow or unreliable, especially over large geographical distances.
To speed the delivery of these files within its solutions, DDP has partnered with FileCatalyst to enable users to send digital content at accelerated data transfer rates. FileCatalysts unique acceleration technology transforms transfers, reducing them from hours or days into minutes, regardless of size or format. By integrating specifically with the FileCatalyst Direct solution, DDP users can experience incredible speed gains, enabling transfer speeds 100 times faster than FTP and other traditional file transfer methods.
Using FileCatalyst with DDP, the easiest SAN around, further supports our initiative of global media production workflows, stated Jan de Wit, CEO of Ardis Technologies. The secure, reliable, and accelerated file transfer capabilities of FileCatalyst combined with the cost effective DDP series ranging from a small desktop DDP8DP to a large scalable redundant system deliver an ideal solution for content producers looking to extend the production workgroup.”
Our partnership with Ardis is a perfect match as we both address the fundamental problem that digital video requires bandwidth, said Chris Bailey, CEO of Unlimi-Tech Software, Inc.
As the size of media files continue to grow, large digital assets often send data transfers to a screeching halt when using traditional methods of sending files. This is why accelerated file transfer is becoming more and more necessary in the media and entertainment industry.
